“Let’s Kill All The Igbos”- Police Arrest 28-Year Old Man Over Hate Speech

The Osun State Police Command has apprehended Kehinde Adekusibe, a 28-year-old man, for his involvement in spreading hate speech on the popular microblogging site Twitter.

Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, confirmed the arrest through his verified Twitter handle, @Princemoye1.

In a statement titled “Osun Police Arrests Social Media User Who Tweeted ‘Let’s Kill All The Igbos,’” 

Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi wrote:: “On May 18, 2023, Kehinde Adekusibe, the suspect in question, posted a series of tweets on his Twitter handle, expressing discriminatory sentiments towards the Igbo community.

“His tweets included statements such as “Let’s kill all the Igbos” and “Let’s flush them out of Yoruba lands.” He also proclaimed his intense hatred for the Igbo people, referring to them as violent and claiming that they hate the Yoruba people.

“Acting swiftly upon discovering the hateful tweets, the cybercrime detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo initiated an intelligence-led investigation, ultimately leading to the arrest of Kehinde Adekusibe in Ilesa, where he was hiding.

“During the interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, and the investigation will be completed before proceeding with legal charges.

Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi expressed gratitude to the Osun State Police Command for their commendable efforts in addressing this matter. 

He emphasized that justice will be served, as every offense leaves a trace, and the culprits will face the consequences of their actions.
