Breaking News: Six Suspects Arrested In Connection With Murder Of Police DPO In Rivers

As part of ways to bring to justice the killers of late SP Bako Angbasim who until his death was the DPO of Ahoada, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Emeka Nwonyi alongside his management team and tactical units, has apprehended six suspects within the community.

The suspects were arrested when the crack team conducted an operation on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at approximately 0600hrs in Odumude Community, Ahaoda East LGA, Rivers State with the objective to recover the deceased DPO’s body and conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the community.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Kokoin on Sunday. The Police spokesperson in the state says items seized include a locally crafted pistol and various charms adding that the suspects are currently under police custody and are undergoing interrogation at the State CID, in Port Harcourt.

SP Iringe-Koko said the community has been evacuated by its residents as a result of the developments.

The PPRO said a new DPO, SP Zuokumor Richard, has been assigned to the division, accompanied by half a unit of men from Mopol 48, one-third unit from Mopol 19, 56, and tactical teams.

Iringe-Kokoin note that new DPO has been tasked with a thorough search of the area, apprehension of the culprits responsible for the DPO’s demise, recovery of the body, and location of any operational weapons used and assured that the operation will continue while the investigation remains ongoing.
