Gov. Diri Gets 2nd Term Nod From Lawmakers In Bayelsa

Bayelsa state Governor Douye Diri has received a vote of confidence from Former lawmakers in the state under the aegis of Bayelsa Former Legislative Forum, for a second term in office due to his developmental strides in the three and half years in office.

At a meeting with the Governor in the Government House Yenagoa, Tuesday, the ex-legislators say they are very proud of the governor for his love for the people and are willing to work with him in the development of the state.

The former state lawmakers which cut across the political divide from 1999 to 2023, say their visit is to thank the Governor for his outstanding leadership style which has brought about development, peace, and stability in the state.

Subsequently, a motion for a Vote-Of-Confidence on the Governor was moved by the forum through former Speaker, Boyelayefa Debekeme and seconded by former Acting Governor and a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Werinipre Seibarogu.

An elated Governor Diri expressed his gratitude for the honour bestowed on him and charged the group to work toward defending democracy in the upcoming November Governorship election in the state.
