“It Wasn’t Me”- Cleric Whose Name Appeared In The List Of ‘Fake Bishops’ At Shettima’s Unveiling Cries Out

A Calabar-based clergyman, Apostle Ekapong Ubi, has debunked rumours that he attended the All Progressives Congress, APC, unveiling of former governor of Borno state Kashim Shettima as the party’s vice presidential candidate.

APC had unveiled Shettima as Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running mate in the upcoming 2023 election on Wednesday in Abuja.

The event had been graced by personalities in cleric attires but the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, insisted that the bishops at the event were phonies as they had not sent any representative.

Further reports have alleged that the APC in a bid to convince the public that the clergymen were not hired drew up a list of bishops who endorsed their same faith ticket and attended the event.

However, one of the names on the purported list, Apostle Ekapong Ubi, who was number 26 told newsmen that he did not attend the event.

He said: “As I am talking in a conference call with you journalists, I am at 8th Mile area of Calabar, Cross River State.

“I have not travelled to Abuja in the last three months.

Thank you so much, my brother, greetings from our ministry and my family, and greetings from Calabar.

“I wanted you to see me physically that I am in Calabar.

“No call was put across to me by anybody to be in Abuja, and I’m not aware of such gathering. I am not an APC member.

“They have decided to use that to collect money. God will judge them.”

He stated further that he will call on the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to go after those behind the impostors.
