Update: Six Commissioners resign from Gov Fubara’s cabinet in 24 hours
The gale of resignations in the cabinet of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State which took centre stage on news platforms on Thursday as reported by RovingNaija News has continued unabated.
The latest in the league of resignations is Professor Chinedu Nmom, Rivers Commissioner for Education. He has officially left the cabinet of Governor Siminalayi Fubara in reaction to the ongoing political crises in the state.
The resignation of Nnom increased the number of commissioners who tendered their resignation letters from the cabinet of Governor Fubara on Thursday to six.
The Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu has also made public his resignation from the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Other commissioners who resigned earlier from the cabinet are: Professor Zacheous Adango, Attorney general and Commissioner of Justice, Dex Alabo Kelly, Commissioner for Works, Inime Aguma, Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, and Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Woke.
However, Emeka Woke’s letter has not been sighted by by RovingNaija Reporters as at the time of filing this report.
RovingNaija Reporters gathered that the rash of resignation resulted from the fallout between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
All the commissioners who tendered their resignation letters also served in the cabinet of Wike before they were retained in the current cabinet ostensibly to do the bidding of their Godfather and keep watch over his interests.
