Zahraddeen Ja’afaru, a notorious phone snatcher based in the Angwan Jaba area of Lafia, the capital city of Nasarawa state has been arrested by operatives of the State Police Command.
His arrest was disclosed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday in Lafia.
According to the statement, the arrest of the suspect followed a complaint lodged at the ‘A’ Division, Lafia of the Nigeria Police on Tuesday.
Nansel stated that thieves were reported to have broken into a house behind Sabo Garage in Lafia and made away with three mobile phones and a power bank.
“Police operatives attached to the said Division carried out a comprehensive investigation which led to the arrest of one Zahraddeen Ja’afaru ‘M’ of Angwan Jaba, Lafia.
“A search warrant was executed at his residence where four (4) stolen phones and a power bank were recovered.
“Furthermore, seventy-one (71) SIM cards of different network service providers were also recovered as exhibits,” Nansel stated..
The police spokesman revealed that the suspect has confessed to his involvement in a series of house-breaking, theft, and snatching of handsets from members of the public in Lafia and its environs.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada has issued directives to the Divisional Police Officer to intensify efforts in apprehending the suspect’s accomplices.
CP Nadada stated the importance of a thorough investigation and urged swift action to bring all culprits to justice.
