“If you are not happy because they are praising us, go and hug a transformer” – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nyesom Wike, has dared detractors to the policies and projects of the Federal Government to go and hug a live transformer if they feel strongly about the successes recorded by the APC administration.

Wike, the former governor of Rivers State spoke during the Ground breaking ceremony for the construction of Mabushi Bus Terminal in Abuja on Monday.

The minister said President Bola Tinubu has charged him to pull out all the stops to fast-tract the urban renewal of Abuja and he is therefore emboldened to remove all obstacles in his track to achieve the developmental objectives of the Federal Government.

He promised not to relent in his efforts to make Abuja a model city in Nigeria.

In his key note address, the Speaker, House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass praised the minister for his uncommon dedication and commitment, which has made Abuja more conducive to live in.

“In a short time he has embarked on infrastructural projects that is set to make Abuja comparable to other major cities in the world.

“The success recorded by the minister has underscored President Bola Tinubu’s decision to appoint him as minister of the FCT, Abuja.

Hon Abass advised the minister to embrace more innovative and cost-effective approaches to scale-up infrastructural development and in Abuja.

“I will advise the honorable minister to consider some innovations like the smart city initiative which will enhance the quality of lives in Abuja.

“I will also suggest public-private partnerships which will ensure that projects are concluded on time and to the highest standards.

‘I believe that the minister will achieve more in the coming months because of his unwavering commitment and uncommon dedication,” he said.
