NESREA Shuts Down Five Errant Companies In Adamawa State

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), has confirmed that it sealed off five defaulting industries in Adamawa state in 2021 for violation of environmental safety standards.

In an interview on Wednesday, The Coordinator of NESREA, Mr Hamid Aliyu said this in an interview on Wednesday.

“In 2021, five facilities including food, beverages, tobacco, domestic and industrial plastic, rubber and foam companies, and rice mills were sealed for non-compliance with the agency’s environmental safety standards,” he said.

The NESREA Coordinator explained that the industries were closed after series of warning and they refused to comply.

“These facilities now have a better process of carrying out an environmental audit of their facilities and have applied for environmental operating permits,” he said.

He also added that Agency have give some construction firms warning letters for not obtaining assessment certificate duly issued by Federal Ministry of Environment.
