Gunmen Strike In Delta, Kidnap Anglican Priest, Wife, Children

An Anglican priest, Rev Agbadamashi Emmanuel, his wife and children have been reportedly abducted by armed gunmen.

The incident occurred along the East-West road by Evwreni junction last Friday.

It was gathered that the cleric and members of his family were travelling from Ughelli to Uwheru community, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State when the gunmen attacked and kidnapped them.

As of this moment, the cleric and his family are still in captivity.

The Public Relations Officer of the Anglican Communion, Ughelli Diocese, Hon Justice Iyasere confirmed the report in a telephone conversation with journalist on Sunday.

He, however, could not confirm if the kidnappers have made any demand for ransom.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe is yet to issue a statement on the development.
