I Live In Lagos, I Must Confess We Are Suffering In Lagos- Funke Akindele Speaks On Dep. Gov’ship Race

Nollywood Actress, Funke Akindele has cast aspersion on previous successive administrations in Lagos state for not doing enough to make the state more economically healthy and vibrant than it is presently.

The prolific movie producer turned politician emerged recently as deputy Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos. She will be running alongside Olajide Oladiran (Jandor) who is the Gubernatorial candidate of the party.

Speaking on Channels TV on why she chose to dabble into politics despite her busy schedule, the movie star disclosed that she is not happy with the way Lagos is being run by the APC government which has been in power since 1999 and only metamorphosed from one name to another.

According to her, Lagos is blessed with abundant human and natural resources that can make the state compete with any of the best cities in the world. But unfortunately, the people who govern the state are not doing enough to tap into that opportunity.

She explained that by now, people shouldn’t be talking about poor health care system, bad roads, and other problems that are currently confronting the state.

She said she lives in Lagos and she must confess that people are really suffering in Lagos. Imagine waking up around 4am and hit the road as early as 5am so as to meet up with the 8am resumption time which is not certain because of traffic.

She also noted that some people despite leaving their houses at such an ungodly hour will not get back home until around 12 midnight.

The Jenifer diary producer belived that all those things can be corrected if there are right people in government and that is what their government is coming to correct in Lagos.

Speaking about her emergence as deputy governorship candidate, she said she has been willing to contribute her talents to the development of Lagos through politics until Jide Oladiran came to meet her and asked her to be his running mate. She saw it as an opportunity and she grabbed the offer.

She explained that she is coming into the system to promote the course of Lagos women, young girls and the children.

Akindele stated this while featuring on Channel’s TV program anchored by Kayode Okikiolu.
