What Came To My Mind When Oyetola And Aregbesola Fell Out- Ademola Adeleke Opens Up

Osun state Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke has opened up on what played out in his mind during the burning misunderstanding between the immediate past governor of the state, Rauf Aregbesola and his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola.

The duo fell out over some irreconcilable political differences between them. Aregbesola who supported Oyetola to win the election in 2018 had insisted that he would throw his weight behind his prefered choice, Kazeem Adeoti in 2022.

The minister of the interior confessed that Oyetola was foisted on him in 2018 by the Lagos godfather and he had no choice than to support him. His decision to field another candidate against the sitting governor at the party primary led to a major crisis in the party.

Aregbesola who openely declared his stance against Oyetola’s reelection however lost out as his preferred choice didn’t win the primary. Since then, he did not at any time declare his support for Oyetola till the election was conducted and his party lost on Saturday.

Speaking on how he felt by the development, Senator Ademola Adeleke said when the two erstwhile political allies had a misunderstanding, what came to his mind was that God is indeed at work in his life. He saw the entire thing as a divine arrangement and time for him to grab the opportunity.

Adeleke stated this during his exclusive interview on Monday edition of Channels TV Politics Today.

According to him, the rancour between Aregbesola and Oyetola was a perfect opportunity for him to make a move and get people to his side. He saw it as the hand of God working in his life.

Asked how the misunderstanding between the two APC Leaders affected his victory, the senator stated that it created a huge division in the ruling party. A faction was loyal to Oyetola and Tinubu while another faction pitched tent with Aregbesola.

He identified some loyalists of Aregbesola who later defected to PDP and worked for his election.

Adeleke explained this on Monday while featuring on Channels TV Politics Today.
