The video of Ballot boxes and papers that were thrown inside a drainage has gone viral on social media.
The incident which reportedly happened at Ajeromi Ifelodun in Lagos has been sparking outrage from Lagosians.
The video was uploaded on twitter by Channels TV. According to different voices speaking in the background, it was gathered that some unidentified hoodlums invaded a polling units around the area, grabbed the voting materials and dumped them inside the drainage.
The idea was to disenfranchise voters in the polling unit and ensure votes do not count for those who have already voted.
The development is one of several cases of violence that have been reported across the state. Several Lagosians were said to have been prevented from exercising their civic responsibilities in their various polling units.
The state seat of power is being keenly contested by the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressive Congress, Olajide Adediran of the People’s Democratic Party and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party.
