Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila has apologized to Nigerians over his controversial pictures that were posted from the Harvard University.
The lawmaker came under intense criticism in the last two days for daring to post his pictures where he was receiving lecture at the University.
According to him, he decided to seize the privilege of the National Assembly recess to attend a leadership course in Harvard.
While many Nigerians did not see anything wrong in his choice of attending a leadership course outside Nigeria, they were however disturbed and outraged for making it public at the time University students are counting months of being at home due to inability of the government he is part of to honour the agreement between it and the lecturers.
He was heavily criticized for also trying to post the pictures on social media for the world to see. It was relatively considered an insult to the sensibility of Nigerians especially the University students who have been sitting down at home for over five months.
Responding to the criticism on his Twitter page on Wednesday, Gbajabiamila described his action as Insensitive. He noted that the post was not sensitive to the present feelings of fellow citizens especially parents and students who are bearing the brunt of the ongoing closure of public universities.
The speaker who has since taken off the photos from his Twitter page explained the series of intervention he has made in Nigerian universities to facilitate quality education in the country.
He disclosed this in a series of messages posted on his twitter page on Wednesday.Follow us on social media
