A fourteen years old boy has been rescued from the jaws of untimely death while trying to employ all means of running away from Nigeria.
The stowaway who was identified as Rasheed Muftau was said to have been discovered unconscious inside a parked United Nigeria Airline with the aim of escaping from the country whenever the flight takes off to any destination it is headed for.
According to a statement by Oluwatosin Onalaja, the Head of Media at Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, the boy was found unconscious on Sunday inside the plan.
He was immediately rushed to the MMA2 Clinic for Medical attention. Upon regaining his consciousness, the boy was held for investigation by a combined team of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited and FAAN Security Officers.
Why confessing, the 14-year old boy who hails from Kwara revealed that he came from Badagry. He explained that he gained access to the airport through an opening at Ile-Zik FAAN perimeter fence along the Lagos Abeokuta expressway.
According to the boy, he is an orphan and he is tired of this country. He wanted to travel out of Nigeria through any means possible. He disclosed that while trying to make his way to the parked plane, he saw some aviation staff but dodged them and passed through the bush. He attributed his state of unconsciousness to the drug he took and lack of ventilation inside the plane.
According to Onalaja “At around 6:10 a.m on Sunday 4th September 2022, United Nigeria (the Airline) informed Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Ltd (BASL) of a 14-year-old stowaway boy found unconscious inside one of their aircrafts.
“The incident boy was brought out of the aircraft and taken to the MMA2 clinic for first aid medical attention. He was later transferred for further treatment to the FAAN clinic where he regained consciousness at about 10:20 a.m.
The boy has however been discharged from the hospital and taken to the FAAN Crime Office at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport along with United Nigeria Security Guard for further questioning.
