Baba-Ahmed Warns CJN, Buhari Not To Take Risk By Swearing-in Tinubu, Shettima On May 29
The vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed has issued a warning to the Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola not to swear-in Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima on May 29.
Baba-Ahmed, who appeared on Channels TV Politics Today on Wednesday cited copious reasons it will be dangerous to go ahead with their inauguration as president and vice president.
Citing section 134 of the 1999 constitution, he said the person declared as president elect did not meet the stipulated requirements to be president of Nigeria.
According to the constitutional provision, before a candidate can be declared winner of a presidential election, he must have at least 25% in each state of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
But in this case, Tinubu did not win the FCT. He lost it. Similarly, the process of voting, transmission of results at the polling units and collation of results at the centre must be done according to the electoral act while the declaration must be done according to constitution.
He claimed that non of this provision was met by Tinubu.
Inaugurating him and his running mate on May 29 will mark the end of Democracy in Nigeria and Baba-Ahmed urged the president and CJN not to take that risk.
