Arrest Fani-Kayode For Making Inciting Statement, Hate Speech- Atiku Tells DSS

The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar has urged the Department of State Security Services to arrest the former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode with immediate effect.

Fani-Kayode has been in the news for controversial reasons on social media bothering on hate speeches, inciting comments and ethnic profiling since the commencement of the recent electioneering process in Nigeria.

This was said to have spurred the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ben Llewellyn-Jones to mention his name among those who committed electoral offences in the just concluded general elections.

Reacting to the development, Atiku Abubakar in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu urged the DSS to invite Fani-Kayode who is the Director of New Media, APC presidential campaign council for questioning.

Atiku said to DSS: “Arrest Fani-Kayode for making inciting comment, hate speech.”

The former Nigerian vice president maintained that Fani-Kayode’s claim that he would make Nigeria ungovernable if Tinubu is not inaugurated as president on May 29, 2023, was infuriating and deserving of the attention of the DSS.

“We acknowledge as timely the statement of the DSS’ call on politicians not to overheat the polity. But we call on the security agency to arrest Fani-Kayode for not heeding the counsel of the DSS when he threatened to make Nigeria ungovernable.

“The DSS rightly invited Fani-Kayode after he made false claims about Atiku planning a coup back in January and asked him to report daily. But for some reason, he has continued unhinged to spew hate.
