Scores Of People Reportedly Killed In A Clash Between Shiite And Gov. El-Rufai’s Convoy 

Reactions have continued to trail the bloody clash between the members of Islam Movement in Nigeria and the security personnel of Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

The incident happened on Thursday at Rigasa area along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Western bypass in Igabi Local government.

According to the report, the governor had gone with his entourage to flag off a road reconstruction project in the area when his convoy ran into the group who were embarking on a peaceful protest.

The protesters were out to draw the attention of the federal government to the continuous detention of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat and to demand for their immediate release.

A member of the group, Mohammed Ibrahim told Channels Television that the IMN members started their Procession from Gwamna Road junction heading to Bakinruwa along the expressway when they met the Governor’s convoy coming in the opposite direction. 

He claims that the security details attached to the Governor’s convoy immediately opened fire on the innocent protesters, and in the process killed some of their members and injured several others.

Many Nigerians have however expressed their grievances over the incident.
